( part of that feels like a lie; the psychological damage would be long lasting, and a thought he's not keen to dwell on at the moment.
there's a pause, though, as he considers how to proceed. how to say things the right way. )
when we get back to star city i'll use whatever means i have at my disposal as mayor to make sure zoe's case agent knows it wasn't your fault. missing the hearing.

it stings a little to see her name, but rene can grimace and suck it up and deal with it. she was all he thought about the second that first bomb went off, a desperate plea; my little girl can't lose her daddy, too.
